Heather Sloan, MSOM, Dipl. Ac., Dipl. C.H.
Heather Sloan earned her Master of Science Degree in Oriental Medicine from Southwest Acupuncture College in Albuquerque, New Mexico in 2001. The four-year academic program at the college included training in the five branches of Oriental medicine: acupuncture, herbal medicine, physical therapy (Tui Na), nutrition, and exercise/breathing therapy (Qi Gong) as well as many hours in biomedical clinical sciences. After graduation, Heather Sloan interned at three hospitals in Beijing, China and studied advanced methods in acupuncture at the Beijing International Acupuncture Training Center.
Heather Sloan has practiced acupuncture in Ann Arbor as well as Wyoming, Michigan at Grand Valley Health Plan. She enjoys working in a general practice where there is an opportunity to treat a wide variety of health concerns. She has had very good success managing chronic pain with acupuncture and treating infertility.
The National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine certifies Heather Sloan as a Diplomat in Acupuncture and Chinese Herbology since 2001.
Outside of the office, Heather enjoys playing with her 17 month old daughter, Maya. She also enjoys practicing Sheng Zhen style Qi Gong, cooking and learning about green design and alternative energy systems.
