The Lotus Center of Ann Arbor - Acupuncture & Integrative Healthcare

For Physicians

At the Lotus Center we recognize our role in health care as supportive.  Frequently Chinese Medicine is described as “alternative medicine” – this term unfortunately seems to imply an either/or approach to healthcare.  At the Lotus Center, we prefer the term “complimentary care” because it best describes they way in which we practice.  Our acupuncturists collaborate regularly with physicians and other health care providers to offer patients the best care possible.   Over the years we have developed a broad referral base from physicians looking to offer their patients safe and effective options.

As a health care provider, you may want to recommend Acupuncture & Chinese Herbal Medicine to a patient who is:

  • Struggling with chronic pain or illnesses that have not responded to other forms of care

  • In need of fertility support: Scientific studies have shown increases in the success of in vitro fertilization procedures when used in conjunction with acupuncture.

  • Seeking of an alternative to drugs: Patients may benefit from acupuncture when pharmaceuticals do not give desirable results or when the patient cannot take medications due to side-effects. As a healthcare provider, you can gain satisfaction providing your patients with viable options.

  • Seeking additional therapies: Being able to answer a patient’s questions about alternative modalities and providing appropriate referrals.  Most patients appreciate an open discussion of complementary therapies.
