Pain and Injury

IMGbackpain

Acupuncture is probably best known for its ability to successfully treat pain.  Pain itself is not a diagnosis, but an indication that there is a problem somewhere in the body.

At the Lotus Center we treat pain daily and are continually impressed with the effectiveness of acupuncture and its ability to improve people’s lives.   While can’t promise that every patient will have their pain eliminated completely,  it is rare that acupuncture can’t improve upon even the worst pain including:

  • Headaches & migraines
  • Chronic pain
  • Sports injuries
  • Accident related injuries
  • Surgical recovery time

Surgical Recovery

“In the fall of 2006 I had surgery, using acupuncture treatments, before and after to aid in the healing process. The surgery and recovery went unbelievably well with virtually no fear or pain and minimal bleeding and scarring. I continue acupuncture because it is for me, a mysterious mode of working holistically on whatever the current challenges of my life journey. Be they primarily spiritual, emotional, or physical. It is for me a profound healing experience”. -C

Acute vs chronic pain

All injuries should be properly assessed before beginning acupuncture treatments to rule out something serious, such as a fracture.  That said, the sooner we can treat you after the injury the better chance we have of assisting your body and restoring optimal recovery.  Depending on the severity of the injury, it’s quite common to see improvement within the first two sessions.

Chronic Injuries – meaning those that have persisted over time can prove to be more stubborn when it comes to healing time.  While more sessions are typically needed, patients generally see progress and feel improvement throughout their course of treatment.
